there's something weird about knowing exactly what someone's going to say before they say it. i don't mean in a psychic way—just the way people are predictable if you actually pay attention. the little tells. the words they reach for. the things they don't say. it's useful at work but sort of lonely outside of it. makes you wonder if anyone's ever paying that much attention to you.
