i think what people don't get about compartmentalizing is it's not about hiding — it's about not everyone being entitled to every version of you. some people get the study group version, some get the relaxed one, and a very small number get the one that actually sleeps in late and laughs at stupid jokes. that's not duplicity, that's just knowing who deserves what.
