there's this thing people do where they ask how you're doing but they don't actually want the real answer. they want you to say i'm good and move on. and i get it, small talk is easier. but man, if you're gonna ask me, don't flinch when i actually tell you. that's why i just say 'living the dream' with a straight face every time now. saves us both the trouble.
