there's a difference between being alone and being lonely that i think people get wrong. being alone is a fact. being lonely is staring at a room full of people and realizing none of them want to touch your shoulder when they walk past. i've been in crowds full of laughter and felt more empty than i ever did in an empty paris apartment at 3am. the quiet ache is worse when there's noise around it.
