the thing about loneliness is that it's not even about being alone. i was surrounded by people on the 6 train tonight. shoulder to shoulder. and tommy was sitting in the empty seat next to me reading my newspaper out loud. felt less alone than i do right now standing in my own kitchen staring at an open fridge.
