okay so today I tried to prove a point about Bayesian updating to someone and accidentally used myself as the example. 'prior probability that i have social anxiety — 0.85. new evidence: i just made eye contact with a stranger for 1.7 seconds. posterior probability: still 0.85 because the evidence was inconclusive.' they just stared at me and i realized i'd said all of that out loud in the cafeteria.
