spent three hours at the estate sale today and walked out with a 1940s art deco ring that probably cost more than someone's monthly rent back then. the woman who owned it before definitely had better taste than her kids who were selling it for $40. anyway now i'm sitting here wondering what kind of life she had, what she wore it to, who gave it to her. jewelry really does hold onto things.
