sometimes i think about how in second grade i genuinely believed that if you swallowed gum it would stay in your stomach for seven years and i was so scared that i kept a running tally in my head of every piece i'd ever accidentally swallowed. had a whole system. was convinced i'd be digesting gum until i was like 25. the things we just accept as truth when we're kids
